A reader writes to ask me if I have noticed that many new special event venues are cropping up ’bout town not in commercial but residential areas?

“It’s the latest trend among party pros and crafty monied people–they buy a fabulous large property, make part of it their home and rent the rest out for $5,000 to $7,500 per event. I understand a local doc who collects exotic cars has done this and calls the space where a few of his cars are stored an “automobile museum”….let the party rentals begin!”

I actually had not heard of this. Deed restrictions may apply, and oh wait ’till the Home Association gets wind. This is done all over northern California, where homeowners rent to students at $1000 plus a pop. But here in Dallas? Have you heard anything about this?

Not me, but Lisa Kanarek, author of Organize Your Home Office, and a dear friend. Lisa is an expert at setting up, organizing and maintaining your home office. She writes about it, lectures about it, and has just launched a blog devoted to this issue called, tauntingly, Working Naked. Since many Realtors work from home — fully clothed, or not — I thought you should check out Lisa’s blog. Topics (un)covered: home office technology, how to keep organized (fat chance chez moi), resources and ideas. Check it out, naked or not.
