It’s covered with six inch thick concrete walls over on Meadow Road. Enough for a tornado shelter, almost a bomb shelter! The sound-proofing abilities of concrete are spectacular. The only problem with making your home TOO quiet, is you can also shelter yourself from exterior disasters and tornado sirens. A few years ago, a small plane crashed into two homes north of Royal, east of Hillcrest, and my husband was at home reading a Tom Clancy novel. Ironically, he was he was reading about a jet crash scene at the very time the plane struck the homes. He recalls hearing something faint that sounded like a plane crashing — he just thought Clancy’s words were uber powerful. Of course, the best part of this ICF construction is the tremendous energy cost savings. This 8,000 square foot home is on the market for $1,750,000. And I’d love to see the utility bills about right now.
