I twittered the news this weekend when I saw the crews at work Saturday afternoon. DFW Around Town posted details six hours ago. (I am so competitive!) But what I am really wondering — what is that Tatum Brown homebuilders sign (tan colored) all about? My fingers are walking right over to my cell phone… could it be that construction will begin on a new Bush abode once the gate goes up? Or is this a spec home (Tatum Brown are master home builders; you will note most of their inventory is SOLD) sure to sell like hotcakes on the Darias… dialing, ringing, hi, may I please speak with Mark Danuser?

In the lobby , coming down from an apparent pow wow with former President George W. Bush, who is officing at 5950 Berkshire Lane. (Dave Perry-Miller’s office is in suite 100, with a full view of the lobby.) Matthew was wearing faded 501 jeans, a white cotton button down, had a leather satchel tossed over his shoulder… just sauntered right through the lobby over there before we could grab any shots. Or him.

Formals, check. More than 3400 square feet, check. Pool, check. Marble floors, huge master suite, wet bar, family and game rooms, kitchen and baths updated from the original 1981 construction, check. (Check out the master soaking tub and stone wall.) Yours for $409,900. True confessions here: the owner is an agent with Ebby Halliday, who I met at real estate school — we drifted towards each other once we learned we were both journalists who had worked for CBS. Ed Danko, the homeowner, is a former CBS news photographer, a 25-year news veteran and producer. With the economy (media in particular) such an employment challenge, Ed took an early retirement from CBS News and moved to Dallas to become an agent. He got his license about seven months ago and has been selling up a storm at Ebby’s Willow Bend office in this market. This is a guy who’s been all over the world and covered President George H.W. Bush in office. How great to have Ed and his family in Dallas!
But one day after two closings, CNN came knocking. Ed is off to Atlanta as a news producer and editor. Now his Steeplechase home is on the market and like the pro he is, Ed is doing everything right to sell it. This one won’t last.
Motivated seller — check.

Great view across the street.
Question: do folks who live near the Preston-Forest water tower get a reduced rate on their Dallas County taxes? I’ve always wanted to know why that wasn’t buried?

Bushgate. Again. So says Zac Crain, but my question is this: how long does it take to build a darn tootin’ gate?
On Good Morning America, first interview from Daria Place. So no wonder Cindy Sheehan was also in the hood, recently.
Update: Mrs. Bush says she and the former president really do have a private life.
I wasn’t there, so I can’t say for sure, but it does look like W. was practicing his stand-up routine this morning at Dave Perry-Miller’s Monday morning meeting.
This was the former president when he learned that Dave Perry-Miller & Associates has more than one hundred million in sales sitting in Dallas title companies and enriching our economy. Make that $200 million, he told agents, and I’ll bring you Dick Cheney President Obama.
Why else would he be at today’s Monday morning meeting at Dave Perry-Miller’s office? Oh wait, yes, the former president officesright above DPM’s Preston Center office. I’m told Ebby Halliday introduced GWB, and then he spoke, revving up the agents. He also brought along a photographer and posed for photos with every single person in the place, the queue snaking almost out the door. Actually, I think he would make a great realtor. Mr. President, should you decide to become an agent, you can borrow all my books and real estate school notes!
