AIA Home Tour: Ron Wommack and John Rice

BuenaVista_lr

Great example of homes we will see more of in the future as people want to be closer in to the city, seeking higher desity: 4143 Buena Vista St. Three units face the Katy Trail,  two freestanding units with roof decks take advantage of downtown views.  This design allows town homes to connect and seemingly disappear into the Trail environment.  Vertical corrugated copper, milsap stone reclaimed from earlier WPA projects down the Trail, and ipe wood screens provide privacy and architectural interest in this Uptown neighborhood.

Check out the access to the parking area though. It would be a nightmare to get in and out.

I don’t know where you got that picture, but that picture makes this property look like what it is not: desirable. The tight drive up to these homes off of the forever-busy Fitzhugh is just one issue when considering functional obsolescence. In case anyone is interested in buying these, I suggest that you drive by at night on a busy weekend; the “entertainment” venues within walking distance add a lot street traffic from people looking for parking spots and a lot of foot traffic from people that found a parking spot (most likely in front of your driveway blocking your departure).
