It exhausts me keeping up with the neighborhood wars in this town — the conservation district battle in the Disney Streets, and now Desco Drive wants to do conservation light: the Neighborhood Stabilization Overlay.

As someone who works mostly with Builders, this just sucks! Not to mention it could hurt people who are thinking of selling their older homes to a builder

I have ZERO compassion for the builders. If this NSO passes, I’ll be doing a “happy dance”.

NSO has worked very well in Cochran Heights, off Henderson – an enclave of Dilbeck ’storybook’ homes which were starting to be replaced by three-story (that does not include the roof)jobs – some with elevators.
Alex, would you really want one of those next to your home?
well, we dont have the 3-story problem over here in Preston Hollow, unless you count the few homes with a basement..that being said, these builders that most dislike, provide jobs for hundreds of people, help improve property values, and keep the agents (many of which live in the neighborhood) busy.
I agree, to some extent the character of the neighborhood should be respected, but there has to be balance on both sides of the problem.

DallasDirt is a daily discussion of the Dallas-Fort Worth real estate market, led by D Home Real Estate Editor Mary Candace Evans with contributions from real estate experts and aficionados. Topics include house porn, hot neighborhoods, hot agents, hip pockets, celebrity listings, second homes, vacation homes, real estate trends, data analysis, tips for buying, selling, or staying put. If DallasDirt were a house, it'd be a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath ranch transitional on a quarter acre lot with stainless kitchen and granite countertops: sophisticated with designer touches, room for expansion. Make an offer.
