The House: In Case You Decide To Cook At Home

housekitchenVery sleek kitchens with high-end appliances, Jenn-Aire if memory serves, Wolf ranges. I wonder if the folks who live in these units —The House, The W, One Arts Plaza –  actually ever cook because they are within walking distance of so many great restaurants. The Hard Rock Cafe is now open across from The House, and when I was there last week, it was hopping. The best part besides the great food: $15 on lunch doesn’t exactly break the wallet.

When I lived in NYC, I hated schlepping groceries from the store up to my apartment, so we ate out much more often. Of course, we didn’t have concierge service. But then, when you downsize and it’s just one or two in The House, who needs a Sam’s closet?

“The best part besides the great food: $15 on lunch doesn’t exactly break the wallet.”

What?! So, in this time of severe economic turmoil, good people losing jobs and homes, you think a $15 lunch is not only acceptable, but a good thing? You realize you are really getting a $6 sandwich and $9 worth of looking at memorabilia.

That has to be the most shallow thing I have read this year. And I read a lot.

    Just wow.

I was born and raised in Dallas, and when I hear things like this come out of Dallas-ites mouths, it really embarrasses me. I have traveled all over the world, and I can’t tell you the number of times I have been informed of how shallow and conceited Dallas-ites are. I love my city, and I love my Dallas-ites, but…maybe those people are correct.

Madame, I suggest you stop paying $15 for lunch and however much your concierge service costs and learn to make egg salad. Do something to help the real people who have never done anything but work hard. Take that money and put a kid in a better school. Take that money and put food in a child’s mouth. Take that money and help a single mother get ahead.

But most of all, please take your head out of your ass.

Dallasites are shallow and conceited. Ha Ha! But when you can spend over $1M for a 1900 sq ft house, $15 for lunch “doesn’t exactly break the wallet”.

Sorry I meant $15 for two. I do make plenty of lunches but prefer sliced turkey and carrots over egg salad. Trying to save health care costs.

Even so, $15 is not bad… I mean I spend $10+ just on lunch at Jason’s Deli or Corner Bakery (including drink and tax). Unless you’re eating fast food crap from the value menu then $15 is not bad…
