6645 Northaven Road

charles-gregory-whole-foods-lakewood-228-031This is truly the most beautiful home in Dallas now, and I’m not just saying that. Got a sneak peak this morning — very brief. They are busy getting it ready for the new owners. In a word, magnificent. The home is a tribute to modern architecture but is very warm, appealing. A few tidbits:  natural concrete floors, warm warm wood on the stairs (Aframosia, imported from Canada) and in the upstairs hallway. The kitchen counters are Pierre Brun white limestone; counters in the master bath are Balzaac Fleuri limestone imported from France. I saw three bedrooms, a guest room, nanny’s suite, children’s playroom, a planning/wrapping room, office, media room, master bedroom with amazing closets, pull-out mirrors, and a basement music room. The home is ceiling to floor windows which totally take in the natural treed beauty of the almost 2 acre lot and make  so much sense — not a stitch of drapery, but none is needed because of the six-foot tall walls outside the windows that generate total privacy. Also all doors are tall and recessed so it appears there are no doors anywhere. What impressed me the most is the warmth of the contemporary design — and despite the almost 14,000 square feet, I felt it a very homey, comfortable home. The kitchen does has a sub-kitchen (big trend these days) but also a fireplace and seems actually cozy.  This home was built for the land and truly enhances it, and puts architect Lionel Morrison even more so on the map as one of the world’s greatest architects.

Here’s a partial list of the goodies:

    Imported Aframosia wood from Canada

Imported Balzaac Fleuri limestone from France

    How about:

Imported money from private Swiss bank accounts.

These days, a lot of us are questioning how the affluent got so rich. I sure am! Don’t tell me quite a few of them earned it the hard way.

I lived in a Lionel Morrison/Dianne Cheatham condo for several years and hated to leave it. No one could believe the small square footage because the place FELT twice as large because the space was used so well. I would love to check out his work at One Arts when my lottery ticket pays off! He is an incredible architect.
