The Kitchen Next Door

This is the “Mother” of all stoves, the Aga — invented by physicist Dr. Gustaf Dalen, retail about $23,000. This stove is the centerpiece of a kitchen in a neighboring listing/townhome and just may give the unit belonging to Julius Jones a little competition.

I love the traditional English Aga stove. However, in Texas they aren’t practical. They stay on all the time and the cast iron retains the heat. Even though they are well insulated, those babies really warm up a kitchen. If you’ve got a big drafty English manor, that’s great. But in a Texas townhome, that’s kind of crazy.

Lydia, I have always wanted one of those, or so I thought. Thanks for giving me a reason to let that dream go. Now I need a reason to stop lusting after cork floors.

Cork or bamboo — -now those are worth lusting after. I don’t know about you, but I haven’t left my kitchen for days. Next house, forget the stove — for that matter, forget the kitchen. Anyone ever heard of a home without a kitchen? SOLD!!!
