As far as I'm aware, there are only 2 LEED Platinum homes in Dallas, one that was built before the final regulations came out in January 2008, and one in the Urban Reserve community that beat us out to be the first one in Dallas under the new, permanent guidelines (damn them!).

I agree with your comments. It was some work educating ourselves and our builder, but the real cost was not that much beyond what we would have done anyway to build a modern, energy-efficient home!

Let's hope soon we can say we were among the first of thousands and thousand of LEED homes in Dallas!

We live in the first Platinum LEED Certified House in Dallas and we love it! Our electricity bills average $100 a month for a 2900 square foot home. Alan Hoffmann was our builder. It is an insulated concrete form house. I wish more people would get interested in this type of building. It is so good for the environment.
