I have to say it: The DMN got it first. Good work. Feel beaten. Just off phone with Mr. Nix: the listing agreement expired in June but Nicky had told Keith Nix that Mr. Amend gave them permission to continue marketing the property as a “hip pocket”.

Yeah – someone should check back with Mr. Amend about that. He sure seemed pissed in the DMN article. And I don’t know the last time a homeowner and agent worked on a verbal agreement.
I can just hear the follow-up conversation “Hey John, Nicky here, just wanted to let you know I sold your house and you can send me my $3,000,000 commission check. I, uh, kind of need it real quicklike, if you don’t mind. And just ignore the fact that we don’t have anything in writing. I’ve learned that the fewer papertrails I leave, the better.”

Nix is just doing his job for Nicky. “Hey Keith, get us some press to get the attention away from the IRS story.”
If I were Keith, I would run from that scum bag.

DallasDirt is a daily discussion of the Dallas-Fort Worth real estate market, led by D Home Real Estate Editor Mary Candace Evans with contributions from real estate experts and aficionados. Topics include house porn, hot neighborhoods, hot agents, hip pockets, celebrity listings, second homes, vacation homes, real estate trends, data analysis, tips for buying, selling, or staying put. If DallasDirt were a house, it'd be a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath ranch transitional on a quarter acre lot with stainless kitchen and granite countertops: sophisticated with designer touches, room for expansion. Make an offer.
