Pave Paradise and Tear Up A 7-Eleven
Readers are telling me they are upset that the 7-11 on Knox Street is going down to make way for a 9-story office building —
“with, of course – another freakin’ bank (to) be located on the ground floor. I’m seriously depressed. For those of us that live around Knox, that 7-11 is literally the only place close-by to buy last-minute groceries, wine, household items, etc.”
Steve Brown had the story today. Thanks to the irate neighbors who sent me pics. Fairly obvious, developers: those people need a quick grocery store over (yet) another ATM machine.

Well that’s random. I was just there on Saturday and there were zero signs it was closing. Well, 05-ers fear not, there is still a 7-11 in the 75205…it’s just down the road, at the edge of the bubble.
If the developer is smart, they’ll have a 7-11 on the groundfloor of the building.
^Dooner - if 7-11 will pay as much rent as a bank, and won’t require any improvement allowance, then i’m sure Shafer will entertain their interest in the space.
Isn’t there another 7-11 about ten paces away at Fitzhugh and Travis (on the same street even!)? You’ll just have to stumble a little farther for your convenience store booze and smokes.
We so need another bank, right? They worked very quickly to get rid of the 7-Eleven; now you can stare at an empty lot until the really ugly new building goes up…
