Twelve Miles Of Bad Road Stalled

An HBO series starring Lily Tomlin about the Real Estate biz in Preston Hollow (or Hallow as some readers like to call it) has apparently been shelved. If memory serves me, this is the show that had Lily consulting with Ebby Halliday and Ellen Terry for pointers. What I don’t understand is the title: what does 12 miles of bad road have to do with the Real Estate industry? Unless, of course, that is how long it takes us to get out of Preston Hollow and north of LBJ JUST KIDDING! Seriously, does anyone see this as a weird title or am I missing something?

To my knowledge, Preston Hollow is roughly 12 square miles. But the title is most likely a reference to the antics of the dysfunctional family, and less a comment on the infrastructure of their neighborhood. Just a hunch.

Well, you know, it did take some doing to get former mayor Laura Miller / the city council to re-pave Park Lane near Northpark. That was at least 1 mile of bad (bad bad bad bad bad) road. I’m sure there are 11 more somewhere else in the P. Hollow.

But speaking literally of miles of bad road, the residential streets in Preston Hollow are some of the most terribly paved roads–especially around the estate areas. So, where exactly are those property tax dollars going? Oh, I forgot: DISD. But that moon-crater-like pave job (in some places) does give you that “we’re not really in the city, no city would do such a bad job of maintaing it’s roads, this must be some far-removed bucolic setting.” And, driving down Preston, Inwood, or Hillcrest is always an adventure (they are constantly being worked on, much like Joan Rivers…and the work in progress ain’t pretty).

Candy - didn’t you hear? HBO & Lily Tomlin are also being sued - that’s why the series was shelved. Why were they sued? Because they each said the word “pitbull”.
