So I pulled out of my drive this morning to see an NBC truck in front reporting on the latest pit bull attack in our ‘hood. I had just received an email alert that this trauma place Saturday night about 30 days after the last attack and thought naw, it can’t be. But it was the same dogs. The owners, John D. and Cathy Harris, live in this house, which is on the market. Seems like a great house — coffee bar, 4 fireplaces, flash-bake oven — and I feel for the Real estate agent, Rosalie Nagy. In fact, I’d love to know how she handles showings when the Pit Bulls are present — the Harris’ also have a little schnauzer who was barking at Channel 5’s Susy Solis. Anyhow, the Harris’ feel like everyone in the hood hates them, there’s a Dangerous Dog Hearing on Tuesday, May 6 at 11:00 AM at the Dallas Animal Shelter (1818 N. Westmoreland Road, Dallas, TX 75212), the house is on the market, put two and two together…
I like pit bulls, and have found those that are raised in a loving home are great pets. But this is unacceptable. And it is the owner’s fault. He has obviously raised his dogs to attack and admits they are dangerous. He needs to be cited immediately.
Sounds like a pretty clear cut case of negligent, irresponsible pet owners. One time, ok, maybe it was a freak accident. But two attacks in about two months?
Anyone else having a hard time feeling sympathetic for the owners of two tried and true vicious dogs who say: “We feel like we’ve been sabotaged here, and our character has been defamed.” Uh huh. Cry me a river, build a bridge and then go live on the other side of that river with your two devil dogs…hope they can’t swim (don’t forget to burn that bridge when you get to the other side–you seem pretty good at doing that).
Mr. and Mrs. Harris:
Please do the right thing and get rid of your dogs. You’ve proven twice that you can’t handle them. I don’t think you or anyone else wants round three with your “pets.” They are obviously not the right pets for you or for the neighborhood. And just where would they find a better home? Pretty sure Kujo’s already got dibs on Hell, so their options are looking rather limited.
Everyone is afraid of your dogs. You happen to own them, so, who do you think the neighborhood is going to complain to? The Pit Bulls obviously don’t listen or have a conscience. Do you?
My Aunt Raye was savagly attacked by a pit bull 15 years ago. She was in the hospital for weeks, and was not expected to survive. Any dog, regardless of breed that shows aggression needs to be put down. It genetically stops the trait in the bloodline, and protects the public. The dog that attacked my aunt was a “good dog” so much so, she was thinking of adopting him. The owners should be aware, after the dogs learn they can attack and dominate strangers, the next challenge will be YOU.
It is obvious that Candy and C.R. are neighbors. Hows that Locking Jaw lie treating you C.R.? Looking at the MLS the house has been on the market for months. Long before the first attack Candy, so your attempt to have people try and put 2&2 together is BS. Funny how you all keep saying that the people are irresponsible, yet they haven’t been criminally charged. Ever wonder why? Maybe because they weren’t at fault and others (like the agent showing the house) were?
I am NOT a neighbor and I’m appalled with the choices John and Cathy Harris are making. They are lucky they don’t live in my neighborhood because if their dogs hurt my kids, my dogs, my family I would SUE THEM, I would make SURE the dogs would be put down, and I would make John and Cathy wish they had never decided to have such horrible dogs in the first place. I cannot believe the audacity of the Harris’s to SUE THE VICTIM. What would it take for them to get their heads out of the sand??? A death? Get the heck out of Dallas…you are both ******.
Kari, can you cite a link that the Harris family has sued the victim? How would you make sure the dogs would be put down? Kill them yourself? Your emotions are getting the best of you and your looking like a loon like Candy is.
Quite frankly the way Candy goes on and on and is making the Pit Bull issue her own personal vendetta (I recall someone asked her if she was actually the victim and she never answered), plus putting up personal info on the owners I think Candy ought to be sued also as well as D magazine for allowing her to go crazy with the Pit Bull issue.
