This is just crazy. The building was unique. It was irreplacable. Yesterday’s news said the city landmark commission did not give it historical status, or similar. What are those people thinking? The people who are supposed to guard against this kind of thing, are asleep at the switch; or poorly informed; or else they just don’t care. Maybe Hard Rock glommed too much onto the original building to save it. Otherwise, I don’t understand the thinking in this. And the result: an interesting, historical building gets trashed. Couldn’t someone have made a buck off of it?

You should know that anything of historical or unique value in Dallas will be destroyed. Dallas has no idea what history means, they only know they need to build more empty condos!

Another Dallas landmark dead and buried. Dallas is soon becoming a shallow, no heart and no soul city. Shame on the City of Dallas to allow the destruction of this landmark along with many others including the only true music district–Deep Ellum. What’s next….the State Fair? Such an important part of the history of Dallas is fading and will soon become a community of high dollar condos….just what we need….more pretentious dwellers…..less heart and soul.

I’m a 47 year old native Dallasite and it breaks my heart to see what is considered “progress” happen all around me.
